Living Room Makeover!

A friend is leaving her sofas here for a year while she and her fiancé wait for their house to be built, so I get to see what I think of real furniture in my living room! I feel more grown-up and less college-bound now that there is more than just chairs and a table to look at! Don't get me wrong: I am very proud of my Ikea furnishings. The sofas are a nice touch though, don't you agree?

Beside the new look of the living space, I'm thoroughly enjoying the new school year. I am so much more organized than the previous three years, and I'm working my students very hard. So far, they are responding well. I am teaching English Language Arts for 5 groups: grade 7, two grade 8 groups and two grade 9 groups. I love working with teenagers, and it still makes me laugh when other adults say "you're brave!" We started with an intense writing program, including essay writing for my grade 9 students. Although the first results were a bit worrying, I am confident that they will improve!

I'm still going to physiotherapy for my knee sprain and I am seeing some improvement. Since I injured 3 ligaments, the healing process is quite slow. I'm sad that I won't be doing any more running for quite a while, especially not the marathon training that I had hoped to do. No more soccer either! Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to running some time next year. In the meantime, I'm just trying to stop resembling the Michelin Man.

Any ideas on what I should put on the walls? A friend is doing a painting for me. It's a surprise. I think I'll put it on the wall above the fireplace. What about the wall above the sofa? I'm taking suggestions. I have a mirror that might work there...
